Meet The Players

Don Vandello | 41

Don Vandello is the first member of the Wheelchair Bulls to be inducted into the National Wheelchair Basketball Association Hall Of Fame. Vandello is the best player to ever come out of Chicago. Playing both the guard and forward positions, he has won countless awards including MVP of 1979 National Tournament, All-American awards, all-conference and all-tournament, etc.

Vandello is the leading scorer on the team and has been for over a decade. Vandello is a 19 time member of the USA teams and has collected 13 medals including 6 gold. Vandello also had a great career in track and field. He was at one time the fastest wheelchair athlete in the world. He was the first athlete to break the 6 minute mile (in the 1970's). Vandello's hometown is Walworth Wisconsin where he lives with his wife Mikel. She is one of the best women players in the U.S. She has been on 6 USA teams. Vandello also has two sons and owns his own plumbing supply business.

Sue Haddick | 11

Sue "Sooz" Haddick # 11, Hometown: McHenry, 5th season w/ Bulls, U.S. Team Member in 2001, U.S. Team Alternate in 2002, U.S. Team Alternate in 2004, All Tournament Teams at NWWBT's, MIP at NWWBT in 2001, Member 2004/05 Womens' National Champions.

 

 

 

 

 

Ted Beck | 21

Ted Beck joined the Wheelchair Bulls in 1990 after having graduated from Central Washington University. I

Beck is married to wife, Cami, has one daughter, Joelle, and lives in Montgomery, Illinois. Beck works as the Chief Technology Officer for the City of Aurora

 

 

 

 

 

 

Joe Gerardi | 24

Joe Gerardi enters his 16th year of playing for the Chicago Wheelchair Bulls. Over the past few years, he has taken over the scheduling and travel duties for the team, so if the Bulls get stuck in the snow somewhere Joe is the one to blame.

Joe is single and resides in Addison, IL. He works for 2 companies, J. Congdon Sewer Service, Inc and Gerardi & Sons Development, Inc. out of the Carol Stream area.

 

 

 

Alex Parra | 34

Alex is a fantastic basketball player who joined the Bulls after a stint with the Hearts in Motion basketball team. Alex works in Elmhurst, IL . Alex was a nationally ranked swimmer for his native country Colombia. Alex married his lovely wife Karen in August 2007.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Eduardo Rivera | 5

A native of Colombia, Ed has played with the Bulls for over 5 years now. He has a famous shot we call the " Colombian Shuffle " Ed works at Eisenhower High School in Blue Island, Illinois and is a former member of the Colombian National Team.

David Radbel | 22

"DJ" Dave Radbel is in his second year playing for the Bulls, after a successful college career at UW - Whitewater, Dave is the "tallest" class 2 on the team. Enjoys fantasy football.
